Chain Hoist Controllers

Manual Controllers BGV-D8 and BGV-D8 Plus

All our products are designed to survive the rough and tumble of event staging, from individual control for Rigging- Lifts via basic controllers through to our linkable 32-channel controllers. Secure emergency shut-down relays monitor the emergency contactor and also the phasereversing contactor control for the chain hoists for malfunction.

Missing phase and rotating field monitoring is standard in all controllers (except 1-channel controllers). The CEE input is a phase changing connector, meaning that the wrong rotating field can be corrected. Remote controllers are fitted with 6-metre cables as standard.

Wireless controllers based on safe, interference-tested systems are also in the product range. We can help with custom-made solutions for your project, contact us to discuss your needs.

Manual Controllers BGV-C1

The BGV-C1 hand controllers shown here have been conceived for use in simple applications without group shut-down. The table above on the left shows the load types permitted. As with the BGV-D8/D8+ systems, the BGV-C1 controllers are designed to survive the rough and tumble of event staging, from individual control for RiggingLifts via basic controllers through to our linkable 32-channel controllers. Secure emergency shut-down relays monitor the emergency contactor and also the phase-reversing contactor control for the chain hoists for malfunction. Missing phase and rotating field monitoring is standard in all controllers (except 1-channel controllers).

The CEE input is a phase changing connector, meaning that the wrong rotating field can be corrected. Remote controllers are fitted with 6-metre cables as standard. The Touchpanel controller is a modern alternative to conventional pre-selection controllers. The Touchpanel controller can show positions and loads if the chain hoists are suitably equipped. Safe, interference-tested wireless systems are also available.

C1-Touchpanel Control

After launching the "ProTouch StageOperator" to great acclaim two years ago, we linked it to ChainMaster VarioLifts. The controllers can be ordered as cable or wireless units. The control system consists of a master PLC which is linked to a portable remote controller. The remote controller features a touch panel which allows commands to be given to all the units in the system. The master PLC controls all the hoists linked into the system. The system features integrated group shut-down which stops all (moving) hoists in the event that the safety thresholds are exceeded or the safety protection of one hoist in the system trips. The controller monitors the end limit switches of all hoists, an incremental or absolute encoder on the hoist, a 4-20 mA signal from a power sensor or digital overload and/or underload signals.

The ProTouch StageOperator can also control other stage equipment such as winches, curtain systems, multi-drum winches, etc. if they are suitably equipped or adapted by ChainMaster.

Computer Controllers

Over 16 years of experience in constructing stage technology controlling systems have helped our systems become market leaders worldwide. Whether it’s single channel systems for rigging operations or secure control of movement above the audience according to IEC- 61508/SIL3 or combined configurations, ChainMaster control systems are safe, scalable, flexible and dependable.

Several control stations can be connected via Ethernet, allowing several operators to carry out complex three-dimensional movements in the XYZ axes. The centrepiece of this system is the XYZ Stage Operator with its 17” touch screen and two joysticks. Advanced software incorporates ideas and concepts collected from many projects and customers, and they are all available to you for your next show.

Load Monitoring

Naturally our chain hoists are designed and built to conform to all the norms and regulations in force. But what happens if there is an error, such as when the load on the hook is too great, for instance, or there is no load at all?

The safe solution is professional load monitoring with an independent system for chain hoists and lifting gear. The system is easy to control using a PC or Notebook - even via data bus!  The ChainMaster load monitoring system reliably recognizes and documents excessive or insufficient loads for the chain hoists of a very wide variety of manufacturers.

When linked to a ChainMaster  chain hoist controller, the load monitoring system even intervenes to eliminate the danger when an attempt is made to lift an excessive load or a slack-chain condition arises. Individual chain hoists and even entire groups are then shut down automatically. Safety comes first!
